P4 Plays Kickball
In one of our new programs, there is an extra sport and music option for certain grade levels. The P4 Footsal Class were given a break from the normal game of football, footsal, or soccer to play an American game called kickball. This game incorporates many skills related to European football or soccer. Some of the P4 students in class had never even played the game before. It takes the American pastime sport, baseball, and kind of molds the two sports together to create a great game called kickball. The players kick the ball instead of using a bat to hit a ball and they have to field it like in baseball. They also can get the player out by pegging or throwing the ball, below the waist, at the opponent to get outs. The class asks to play it every week and they seem to really enjoy the change of pace it brings to warm-ups, drills, and scrimmages. These pictures of the students playing kickball give it all away.

Weeks 16-20
Welcome to quarter four of semester 2. January was a busy month for us all, I am so proud of all the children’s achievements so far, we are making fantastic progress. As you may be aware the children are learning to read; they are reading first word books and learning ‘cvc’ words. We sent homework on Friday, hopefully you will have practiced some of these words with your child. Reading can often be overwhelming for the children, if you do have time, please practice reading stories and words at home. If you need any assistance or ideas please feel free to come and ask.
This month in Extra English we are learning about foreign cultures, we will also be sharing this with all students during the day as well. K2 Butterfly will be learning about England. We will be discussing the following: Flag, Kings and Queens, Buildings, Food, People, Emergency Services, Countryside and much more. This will hopefully encourage students to discuss other countries and cultures too. Please check our display board for items we will be creating this month. Hopefully we will be able to celebrate the end of the academic year with an international themed party!
